About Us

It was 1945.
In a little, sleepy Florida town, a northern executive retires to help his heart retain viable years. Percy Loveland chose to move from Chicago to Edgewater, Florida, taking along with him the memories of his recently completed financial career. The roads were dirt and canopied by huge oak trees. Each town, in its own right, portrayed what the good 'ole days were: When a friend was a friend to all. A day when getting up in the morning meant communing with nature (in its rightful sense). Life was simple.

And so the story of Loveland Groves begins.
Percy wanted to continue living life but at a slower pace. All the hustle and bustle was behind him now, so to keep himself occupied, he purchased a small orange grove and began to nurture it to its fullest capacity. Soon his northern friends learned about his new venture and encouraged him to send them this “delicious Indian River fruit.” Railroad was the only mode of transportation, but even with the slow delivery time, his friends were very pleased to have fresh fruit on their tables each day. Soon their desires became more than Percy could handle by himself. He asked his son, Tom, who was just out of the Navy, if he and his new bride would be interested in joining him in this business of growing and shipping gift parcels of citrus fruit. They jumped at the opportunity! Over the next 25 years the business grew. Of course, time brought changes (i.e. Percy's retirement in 1968 and Tom's in 1989).

Enter the 3rd Generation.
Today, Melissa (Tom's daughter) and I still maintain the ideals upon which the business was founded. We haven't expanded to the degree of forgetting our roots. You, our customer, are still #1. And in so keeping, we strive to make each shipment a specialized parcel. Our thinking is that if a company gets too large, it loses its personal touch. We not only customize our shipments with hand written cards, pertinent information, and of course, give it our Tender LOVELAND Care, but will gladly add anything (within reason) that you so desire, to make your shipment special to the person who receives it. After 65 years, Melissa and I are very proud to carry on the family tradition and to continue its high standard of excellence.

Cordially,
Tony & Melissa
